I try to make a movie of a short sequence and it fails

I am using FCP 6.06 with Mac OS X5.8 since several years with no problems.

Suddenly I tried to make a very short movie in quick time and it made me a loop of the first seconds and didn't reach the end of the sequence.

What can be the problem ?

What is the source material?

What are the Sequence Settings?

Click on a source clip in the FCP browser and once selected, type Command + 9 to see the item properties for the clip.

Either report those properties here, or take a screen shot of the item properties and post that screen shot here.

Next, click anywhere in your sequence timeline and type Command + 0 {zero} to see your Sequence Settings. Either report those settings here or take a screen shot and post that screen shot of the Sequence Settings here.

You have done this before with no problem?

There are a couple of problematic things shown in your screen shots -

1) Your Sequence is set to H.264 - FCP 6 does not work correctly with H.264. As pointed out by frequent forum contributor Shane Ross, unfortunately FCP will appear to work with H.264, but it really does not work reliably. Try switching the Sequence QuickTime Video Settings Compressor setting to ProRes. If you need to end up with an H.264 file, you can export the finished sequence in that format.

2) Is you source clip that you have posted an images sequence or an individual tiff still? FCP works with stills that are less than 4000 pixels in the widest dimension, in RGB Color, 8bits/channel. Check to make sure your source image meets these requirements.
